| The surgery offers a
full range of clinics and has facilities for carrying
out minor surgery. A whole range of clinics is available
which provide TOTAL health care for the whole family.
Antenatal/Postnatal
Care
The community midwife holds regular clinics for the care
of pregnant and nursing mothers. Your doctor will refer
you for this service.
Cervical Smears
We suggest that cervical smears are done every three
years from the age of 25 to 49 years and every 5 years
from the age of 50 to 65 years. This is in line with
Department of Health guidelines. If you feel your
appointment is overdue, please check with the surgery.
Child Development Clinic
Child development checks are carried out as and when
necessary by the doctor and health visitors. You will
receive an appointment when these are due.
Child Immunisation Clinics
Hanford - Wednesdays 10.00 am – 12.00 noon
Health Advice
Subject to demand, we are happy to offer our patients
advice in specific areas, such as hypertension, asthma,
diet, diabetic, smoking, angina and stress. We are
always prepared to look at other areas. YOU ONLY HAVE TO
ASK.
Holiday Vaccinations
Advice on all your holiday vaccinations is available
from the practice nurses.
Please
arrange to see the Practice Nurse for a travel
consultation at least 6 weeks before you are due to
travel, or as soon as you can. Vaccines need to be given
at least 2 weeks before travel for them to become
effective. If a course of vaccines is required then a
longer period of time may be necessary.
Minor Surgery
Some minor surgery can be performed at the surgery. This
is normally discussed with the doctor first.
Non-NHS
Examinations
Medical examination for special purposes eg elderly
drivers, pre-employment, insurance medicals etc, can be
arranged by appointment outside surgery hours.
A fee as recommended by the British Medical Association
is payable for these examinations.
Patients Over The
Age Of 75
We recommend that patients over the age of 75 are seen
every year for a check-up. If you find it difficult to
get to the surgery, we can arrange for a member of the
practice team to visit you at home. Flu vaccine is given
every autumn on request. Please contact the
receptionist.
Temporary
Residents
You are entitled to see a doctor anywhere in the UK if
you are away from home and in need of medical help. We
will therefore be happy to see any relative or friends
staying with you if they need a doctor.
Well Person Check
From the age of 15 years upwards we strongly recommend a
health check if you have not seen your doctor during the
last three years. This is usually booked with the
practice nurse.
