Practice News (Please scroll down for more news) (updated 6/7/17)

Please allow 48 hours for prescription orders to be ready and do not call the surgery to ask if ready just collection from your designated place of collection - thank you to help us prevent incoming call congestion.

Please ask for your password to access online services - order your repeat medications, book GP appointments and see a summary of your medical records - for full access of your records you need to apply for authorisation. Please come into reception to ask for your online username/password (please bring ID) and help.

Electronic prescribing is  now available from the Practice. Your prescriptions can now be sent electronically to a nominated chemist. This means that you don't have to wait for the chemist to collect your paper medication script or for you to come to the surgery to collect your medication script. If this is of interest to you please contact reception or go to your pharmacist of choice to set this up.

All registered patients at the practice are designated to a named GP. Having a named GP on your records does not affect whom you choose to see. You can call the surgery to check who your named GP is.

To maintain continuity for your medical care we advise that you try to see the same GP if you are coming for an ongoing problem.

Please have a look at our 'Minor illness' section under the further information area below. It includes useful advice with regards to coughs/colds/flu and diarrhoea management.

Dont forget that your local pharmacy can offer advice for minor ailments giving over counter remedies or medication if you are entitled to free prescriptions. This can often be the better treatment as antibiotics do not work on viral infections and common minor ailments.

We are looking for patients to join our Patient Participation group . We need a broad range of backgrounds/types of patients so if your interested get in touch either via the online form or asking at reception. If you would simply like to know more about it then please ask.

SMS serviceWe have a system where we can send appointment confirmation, reminders and test results  via SMS/text messaging. If this interests you please can you update your telephone including mobile numbers with the receptionist.

DNA's - We are continuing to get unattended appointments and not informing the practice. This is waste of appointments that could have been given to other patients. Please can we remind you to make sure you inform the practice if you are unable to attend your appointment.

The Practice regrets that late evening appointments on Monday's are no longer available. For an emergency when the surgery is closed please call 111 to be signposted to the correct out of hours service. Life threatening emergencies are 999 or A&E.

The Practice continues to receive heavy incoming telephone calls and it is important that the lines are available for urgent calls and patients requiring to make appointmentsWe are kindly requesting our patients to help us reduce the volume of incoming calls by not phoning the surgery to ask if your prescription is ready.  By allowing the 48 hours for turnaround of your script you need only go to collect your prescription from your designated pharmacy or from the surgery.

Drs Shah & Talpur is a GP Practice within Hanford Health Centre. Hanford health centre holds community clinics that are booked   directly with the health centre and has a separate phone line to the practice and we cannot transfer calls across to the health centre. If you require to make an appointment for their clinics such as Phlebotomy, Podiatry... or any enquiries, you need to call Hanford Health Centre - 0300 123 0974.

Patients attending the Health Centre community clinics and not a nurse or GP appointment at the surgery, need to go round to the waiting area down the corridor and not stand in the surgery waiting line or waiting room—please see the list on our reception window of these clinics that are not the doctor surgery ones.
