Practice News (Please scroll down for more news) (updated 11th May 2016)
The practices (Dr Shahs and Dr Talpur's) have merged from 1st April 2016. Please bear with the practice as we are currently operating on two different IT systems and try to reduce any major disruptions. We anticipate this may continue until August.
Please accept our apologies if it takes longer than usual to answer the telephones and get the patient check-in service up and running as the receptionist try to manage the increased demands from the merger and the technical issues with the different IT systems.
Our online services are now live to order repeat medications and book GP appointments. Please come into reception to ask for your online username/password (please bring ID).
There is a huge GP recruitment problem in Staffordshire but the practice remains committed to try and recruit new GPs. As a result of the current recruitment crisis please be understanding if routine appointments take longer than previously expected.
We would like to welcome back our GP Registrar Dr Sophie Lowe in May. She will be returning for 6 months to finish off her GP training.
All registered patients at the practice are designated to a named GP. Having a named GP on your records does not affect whom you choose to see. You can call the surgery to check who your named GP is.
To maintain continuity for your medical care we advise that you try to see the same GP where possible.
In your seventies? Ask at reception about the shingles vaccination.
For healthcare during winter please go to:- www.nhs.uk/staywell for advice.
Please have a look at our 'Minor illness' section under the further information area below. It includes useful advice with regards to coughs/colds/flu and diarrhoea management.
Dont forget that your local pharmacy can offer advice for minor ailments giving over counter remedies or medication if you are entitled to free prescriptions. This can often be the better treatment as antibiotics do not always work on some of the minor ailments.
Nurse Appointments Tuesday early morning
We have a Tuesday 07:00 nurse clinic, ideally for Chronic disease reviews, Smears, Routine ECG, Spirometry and pill checks - pre-booked appointments only.
The GP extended surgery hours are either run Monday evening (till 8pm) and/or Tuesday mornings (starting 7am) - please check with reception.
We are looking for patients to join our Patient Participation group . We need a broad range of backgrounds/types of patients so if your interested get in touch either via the online form or asking at reception. If you would simply like to know more about it then please ask.
Patient Survey - The results of the patient survey -click on the link in the further information section 'Survey Report' to see how we have done. We would like to thank those who took the time to complete and return the questionnaires.
SMS service - We have a system where we can send appointment confirmation, reminders and test results via SMS/text messaging. If this interests you please can you update your telephone including mobile numbers with the receptionist.
DNA's - We are continuing to get unattended appointments and not informing the practice. This is waste of appointments that could have been given to other patients. Please can we remind you to make sure you inform the practice if you are unable to attend your appointment giving as much notice as possible - 2 hours minimum.
